Most celebrities decide to keep their already-established maiden name when they marry, but Eva was excited about becoming a Parker, so she simply appended her husband's last name to her maiden name.
If the Mexican-American actress kept with Latin tradition, she'd be Eva Longoria de Parker ("de" = "of").
I know that as a woman, there are several things to think about when you marry and you ask yourself whether you should take your husband's last name or not. If you are an only child and want to keep your maiden name so that the name is continued in your family history, you might decide to keep your last name. Or maybe it's for feminist reasons. For me, I grew up around lots of people with the same Irish last names and I was thrilled for something different, so when I married I was happy to change my name to Barreto. Plus, I have five other brothers and sisters who can carry on my maiden name.
But what about you? Did you keep your last name when you got married? Or, if you're still single, would you take your husband's last name when you do get married?

1. I didn't change my last name! I am a Latina and got married while living in US, and I still keep my last name. I see that Eva just added the Parker last name to her Longoria. It's great that she kept that one and just added her husband's last name.
