Now that the New Year has officially started you hear everyone talking about their new years resolutions and goals. Taking a moment to reflect on the past and see what you would like to do differently in the present to be where you would like to be in the future is what a New Years resolution is all about. But keeping a New years resolution can be difficult. The best way to keep your new years resolution is to try and take the pressure out of it.
The best part about New Years is that not every New Year around the world is celebrated on the same day so if you fall off track don't get discouraged just pick another day to get back on track. For years I was the girl that set New Year resolutions and I swore I would accomplish every single one of them but normally about the third week of January I was back into my old habits. However I have found some tips that have worked for me to stay true to my resolutions.

Pilar was raised in San Antonio, TX. As a child, she had a wild imagination and could never decide what she wanted to be when she grew up. Every time she was asked, she had a new career in mind, from astronaut to neurosurgeon to bus driver! It was in high school that she realized the only way to have a career in every field possible was to move to Hollywood and pursue a career in acting where she could play a lawyer in one role and then turn around and play a soldier in the next! Never really telling anyone what her dreams were, she woke up one morning and felt the courage to actually make the biggest move of her life by moving to Hollywood. With limited funds and a broken-down Mustang that she repaired herself, Pilar arrived in Los Angeles and soon booked her first gig as a waitress at T.G.I. Fridays, a gig which also led to her gaining 38 pounds in just three months. (Pilar Lastra)

At the same time, she also managed to total her car on while on her way to an audition. When she found herself selling artwork out of her cousin's car, feeling the pain of a broken heart, and literally ripping her jeans at the seams, she decided it was time to pack her bags and return home. Back home, she lost the weight and two months later returned to the city that had chewed her up and spit her out. (Pilar Lastra)

The marketing of "Malibu Spring Break" caught the eye of Playboy's Senior Photo editor and soon Pilar found herself gracing the pages of Playboy in her birthday suit, becoming Miss August 2004! (Pilar Lastra)

Becoming a Playboy centerfold gave her a sense of confidence and power. Knowing the typical stereotypes that playmates are given she worked twice as hard to take that title and prove that above having a sex appeal she has class, intelligence and talent. (Jeff Gentner, Getty Images)

Aside from acting and modeling, she also decided to expand her horizons and is the host of The Playmate Hour, a one-hour slumber party talk show on Playboy Radio, Sirius channel 198. (Larry Busacca, WireImage.com)

Pilar's dating experiences, and experiences through Playboy and life in Los Angeles, inspired her to write her first book, titled "You're On To Him... A Response to the Complete A**holes Guide to Handling Chicks." Learning the maintenance of a car by learning to work on her own car along with all her unforgettable dating experiences inspired her to write her second book, "Treat Me Like Your Car... A Man's Guide to Treating a Lady." Both books are being pitched to publishing houses at the moment. Welcome!(Ethan Miller, Getty Images)
Get excited about it. The fact is that in any resolution to obtain it you are going to have to make some changes or sacrifices, and there is no way anyone could stick through their resolutions if they are not excited about it. Resolutions are really a change of lifestyle you can not achieve your weight goal and then stop working out and eating junk food because then you have to start all over to get back down to where you had already worked so hard to get yourself to. So be sure you are excited about the changes you want to make so they actually become a change of your lifestyle.
Second have a game plan, and write down. Know how you plan on achieving your resolutions. When I made a resolution of losing weight and maintained my desired weight, I wrote out exactly which muscle groups I was going to work on every time I went to the gym. I wrote down what foods I could and could not eat and at what time I planned each meal. That way I had a plan and I was going to stick to it. If you want to break a habit what do you need to change to break it. If you want to be a better parent know exactly what you need to work on. If you want to spend more time with loved ones, mark them as an important meeting on your calendar as you would a business meeting.
And once you have a plan know how to be understanding with yourself and give yourself some leeway for the stress and curve balls life will throw your way. If one day you get off of work late and you need to skip out on a workout, don't beat yourself up over it . As long as skipping a work out doesn't become a habitual thing don't beat yourself up over it. I am not saying to make excuses for yourself because the only person you are cheating is yourself, it is your goal so the only person that you need to explain anything to is yourself, so don't make excuses, accept you had a long day and try continue to stick to your goals. Many times people get so upset over falling of track that they get so discouraged and just give up all together. Start again the next day.
And last be sure that you are setting your resolutions for yourself not trying to change yourself for anyone else or for what society thinks is right. Do it for you! And I wish all the luck and fortune on achieving your new years resolution.
Xoxo ~ Pilar
