Well everyone, this blog will be short and sweet because I was in a remote area of Nevada. We built, what seemed to be, the first home in a community of trailers in Stagecoach. Situated about 40 minutes from the state¹s capital, Carson City, Stagecoach is in a valley of the high dessert. It was VERY VERY cold and so when I wasn¹t shooting or working on my project, I tried hard to stay indoors. The ground was covered with snow upon our arrival. Here I am sending out a greeting from my trailer where I was nice and warm.

The family story is a touching one. A couple started a youth ministry program, which they run from their home to keep the kids in the neighborhood out of trouble. You see, there isn't a lot to do in Stagecoach, especially if you are a young curious teenager. It was very foggy much of the time we were there, but here is a picture of the dessert under clear skies!

The designers on this show were Rib, Hillis, Johnny Littlefield, myself and Tanya McQueen, who I shared a trailer with. Here is Tanya posing for a picture I took of her that she needed for a home show she is doing.

Tanya and I had so much fun making each other laugh. Tanya grew up in Texas so she understands quite a bit of Spanish. She can also do a great imitation of Spanish, meaning, she can't really speak it, but pretends that she does and everyone around her believes that she is speaking Spanish to me. It is extremely funny! I keep telling her to learn how to speak as I believe it would come easy to her...maybe I should be her teacher!
Here we are on set on one of the clear days.

We stayed in a small local casino hotel and the bar and slot machines were fun the first couple of days, but then we wanted something different. The bad thing is that there was very little to do outside the casino. I decided to throw a party in my room. I went to the grocery store and bought pita chips, hummus, cheese and crackers, disposable tins for serving platters, some plastic cups, adult beverages and invited several of my production team over. Here are Tanya and I getting the party started. By the time the show ended, word on the parties had gotten out and I had three parties. The third party was PACKED! Thank God I left the next day, my room was a mess!! Don't worry, I left a nice tip for the cleaning crew.

While I was on the road, my team was back in our offices in Beverly Hills continuing to put together our meeting and product display room. Here is a shot of our meeting area.

It's taking a while, but we¹re getting there!! We¹ve taken on an ambitious amount of work over the last couple of years! I rely on my team very much too keep things moving while I am on the road!! Here is a shot of Steve, Desiree, Jason and Giancarlo reluctantly posing for my camera!

As the days passed back in Nevada, the weather improved and by the time we left it was absolutely beautiful.

I flew back home with Johnnie Littlefield. Here we are on our way to Phoenix from Reno.

I'm now back in L.A. doing my best to get 2008 off the ground and running. Lots of work to do on our website so I'll keep you posted on progress. If you want to know exactly when my new blog comes out, set a GOOGLE ALERT by going to: www.google.com/alerts and put my name in the Search Item box!
Well everyone, five more families before we¹ve completed our 50 state tour. My question is, what will Extreme Makeover:Home Edition do next season?? Stay tuned!
Blog you all soon!

1. It never ceases to amaze me just how much all you and the other designers actually do on EXTREME MAKEOVER:HOME EDITION! I appreciate it when you and the team takes on the task of doing something fantastic for a truly deserving family. Sounds like Nevada was one of those deserving family's. Can't wait to watch! By the way, Tanya McQueen looks gorgeous in the candid shots you took of her. She should learn Spanish, that way you two can have your own lingo. Anyhow, thanks again for including pictures. Make it a longer blog next time, pleeeeaseeee! -Gloria
