And as we all know, one of the best place to court voters, after beauty parlors and churches, is of course restaurants, especially when it is a small business owned by an immigrant.
And so it was there, at the Mayorca Coffee Factory, in Silver Spring, Maryland, that Barack Obama made an unscheduled stop, a few hours before the Potomac Primaries, also a few days before the Texas showdown, where close to half of democratic voters are Hispanic.
After chatting with the owner, Martín Mayorca, an immigrant from Guatemala, Obama opened his wallet, ordered some café con leche, and some baked goodies, (one of these cakes ended up with one of the members of his secret service detail) and even offered to buy coffee for those around him.

Moving from table to table, with the usual throng of press, police and fans following him around, Obama got specif about the Latino vote and about his view of U.S.-Mexican relations.
"We are going to court every vote, we want the Black vote, the Hispanic vote, the White vote, young old, you name it we want it", Obama stated and added that he was the best candidate to make sure that "America is inclusive and everybody has opportunity".

He also explained, if elected how he would approach relations with Mexico and the problems at the border.
"I think we neeed to have a relationship of mutual respect, I think that for too long, the United States viewed itself as the senior partner and Mexico as the junior partner, I think we need to see each other as equals"

But the fight for the Latino vote is not just played out in restaurants, or a contest to see who can eat the most tacos... you also need some rhythm to motivate your base.
Both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have some tunes to motivate their voters.
Clinton has a tropical-pop tune put together by a group of Latinas who promise to vote for her
Obama has a reggaetón put together by his amigos
