Siempre admiré la manera intensa con la que jugaba Charles Barkley. También, ya como periodista, los comentarios que hacía y que son la delicia para cualquier miembro de un medio de comunicación social. Pero cuando vi la noticia de que debía $400,000 y que no pagaba desde octubre, no puede evitar sentir la irremediable premonición de que el futuro para Barkley no es nada promisorio.
Al parecer se cayó la posible negociación con Sven-Goran Eriksson para dirigir a la selección de México. Unos lo celebran señalando que es una locura contratarlo, pero siento que en México lo que se desea es una técnico nacional. Y ¿por qué? Nada en contra de los técnicos mexicanos, pero creo que bien pudiera ser útil para el Tri una nueva visión, una óptica más fresca que pudiera constituir en el revulsivo que tanto necesita el fútbol de dicho país.
Aunque tiene ya cinco años sin jugar y aunque jamás ganó un torneo, Anna Kournikova sigue siendo la reina del tenis. Es más, nos atrevemos a decir, que sigue siendo la reina del deporte en general.

El nuevo capataz de los Yankees de Nueva York, Hank Jr. dijo que sólo un "idiota" usaría al relevista Joba Chamberlain en el bullpen y que debía ser abridor, con lo que sin la mínima cortesía y educación le endilgó el nada agradable adjetivo a su mánager Joe Girardi.
Miguel Tejada mintió con su edad y por ello está siendo criticado. Pero ESPN también mintió y por ello también debe ser castigado. Porque lo que hizo ESPN no es periodismo serio y fue amarillismo del más puro.
Ricardo La Volpe envió un mensaje a los medios de comunicación de México enumerando sus logros como director técnico de la selección de México. Y digan lo que digan, nadie puede quitarle sus méritos y el hecho de que sencillamente bajo su égida el Tri hizo más de lo que hizo Hugo Sánchez.
Oswaldo Guillén dijo recientemente que Roberto Clemente no era el mejor pelotero boricua, sino que Iván Rodríguez y Roberto Alomar lo habían superado, lo que inició un gran polémica en la isla para saber si el mánager venezolano tiene razón o no.
¿Quién ha sido el mejor pelotero boricua en la historia? ¿Han sido Alomar y Rodríguez mejor que Clemente? ¿Se debe meter Guilén en esto?
Miguel Cotto enfrentará este sábado a Alfonso Gómez y todo parece indicar que el boricua saldrá airoso de un combate que pudiera catapultar al actual campeón a la puja que todos queremos, la de él contra Floyd Mayweather Jr.
¿Cuántos de ustedes están siguiendo lo que está pasando en la NBA? No creo que haya muchos. La temporada de la NBA es muy larga y la hace tediosa. Creo que sin dudas deberían acortarla, al menos la regular, porque son muchos los que ya quieren que llegue los playoffs y se acabe de una vez estos partidos sin mucha relevancia.
